Virginia Utah Bass, 97 died Monday, May 16, 2016. Utah was born in Buies Creek on February 25, 1919 to the late Percy Vander Ennis and Rado Utah Britt. She married Harvey Minson Bass and moved to Erwin, NC where she resided for most of her life. She had 3 daughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; a daughter, Cecilia Ann; a brother, Luis Bryant Ennis and 3 sisters, Rachel Rainard, Helen Wright and Hortense Blanchard.

Utah is survived by 2 daughters, Anita Harris and husband Larry, and Darlene Hobson and husband Quincy; four grandchildren, Amber Parrott and husband Ben, Jason Hobson and wife Amanda, Ashley Harris and fiance Paul Olexa and Chris Harris and wife Olivia; three great-grandchildren, Jane and Quinn Parrott and Tanner Hobson; 2 brothers, Bruce and Andy Ennis; and a sister, Opal Bell.

Utah retired from NC Division of Motor Vehicles in Raleigh, NC. She was well loved and will be missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington, with Rev. Jeff Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Harnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
