Obituary

Thurman "Tim" Abner Currin Sr., 79, of Lillington died Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Wake Med Raleigh Hospital.

Mr. Currin was born in Granville County, but spent most of his life in Harnett County. He was the son of the late Clement David Sr. and Janie Hart Currin, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, C.D. Currin Jr., Chesley Gilbert Currin, Bernard Marsh Currin; and one sister, Estelle Stone.

Tim was a devoted husband and father. A life long member of Summerville Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. He was a retired farmer of various crops and always worked even after his retirement. Tim was a member of the Boone Trail Ruritan Club where he was awarded Ruritan of the Year. He previously served in other groups such as Western Harnett High School Boosters, advisory board for Boone Trail School, and a board member of the Boone Trail Emergency Services. Tim was well known in the community for his kindness and will be missed my many.

Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Summerville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tom Spence and Rev. Terry Williams officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, May 16, 2014 at Summerville Presbyterian Church and other times at the home of Mr. Currin.

Tim is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Mae Holder Currin of the home; sons, Timmy Currin Jr. and wife Susan, Tony Currin and wife Darlene, Terry Currin and wife Laura; sister, Sarah Collins; 5 Grandchildren, Amy Barefoot, David Currin, Brittney Currin, Jessica Currin, and Ryan Currin; 2 Great-grandchildren, Gavin and Grant Barefoot and Several nieces and nephews
