Thurman Fulton Collins, 78 of Lillington went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 16, 2016.

Thurman was born March 31, 1937 in Harnett Co. to the late Dee and Ethel Gilchrist Collins. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Cleveland Collins, Davis Collins, Kathleen Thomas, Nell Currin, and Joyce Colville.

Thurman was a member of Summerville Presbyterian Church where he was an elder. He owned his own heavy equipment business, Collins Backhoe. He loved his home place, his tractor and being outdoors. He cherished his family and friends. He loved the Lord .

Thurman was survived by his wife of 38 years, Clara M. Collins of Lillington, 3 daughters, Cindy Collier of Fayetteville, Sonya Taylor of Sanford and Brenda McLeod and husband Kelly of Angier; 3 step-daughters, Rosemary Jones and husband Terry of Sanford, Tammy Hall and husband Ron of Youngsville and Patricia Mullin and husband Gary of Holden Beach; a sister, Betty McRae Pauley and husband Bill of Lillington; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 11:00A.M on his birthday, Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Thurman's Lake by the shelter. In case of rain the service will be held at Summerville Presbyterian Church.
