Thomas Alexander Irvin, III, 61, of Lillington, NC died surrounded by his family on Saturday evening, February 20, 2016 at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh, NC.

Service will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 1:00pm at Harnett Memorial Park, with Rev. Mark Howard officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:45pm at O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington, NC.

Tom was born on April 7, 1954 in Concord, NC. He was the son of the late Thomas A. Irvin, Jr and Shirley Lee Mills Irvin of Fayetteville, NC. He was a First Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps for 22 years. After retiring from the US Marine Corps, he went on to work with a friend and former fellow Marine at Carolina Packaging in Raleigh.

Tom is survived by his wife of 21 years, Cheryl B. Irvin, two sons, Xan Irvin and wife Haley of Saraland, AL and Christopher Irvin of Lillington, NC; two daughters, Jessica Irvin and Kelly Irvin, both of Lillington, NC; two brothers, David Irvin and wife Candy of Richlands, NC and Lee Irvin and wife Lori of Cary, NC; one grandchild, Trent Irvin of Saraland, AL.
