Thomas Tom Edison Holder, Sr. 85 of Raleigh died Monday, November 30, 2015 at Rex Healthcare Center.

Tom was born to the late Wade Hampton Holder and Flora Jane Stewart Holder on February 11, 1930 at his familys home in Harnett Co. Tom was the youngest of 12 children. Tom graduated from Boone Trail High School and attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He enjoyed a successful career in mens clothing retail sales which lead to him opening Holders Mens Store in Sanford for nine years. Then his work path moved his family to Raleigh where he continued to work in a variety of retail settings. While he lived in Sanford he met his late wife Vallie Holder. He was a member of Longview United Methodist Church. He loved to read, his favorite was reading the Bible. He enjoyed looking up words in the dictionary. In high school he played basketball and baseball and continued his love for sports in his retirement. He enjoyed watching ACC Basketball and Major League Baseball.

Tom is survived by his son, Thomas E. Holder, Jr and wife Jill C. Rekuc of Raleigh; a sister, Ester Howard of Buies Creek; 2 grandchildren, Ashley Katherine Holder of Raleigh and Carl Thomas Holder of Reidsville; and 2 step-grandchildren, Brian Gregory Rekuc and Caroline Christine Rekuc both of Raleigh.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 4, 2015 at Spring Hill United Methodist Church with Dr. Jerome Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 at the church.
