Obituary

Mr. Theophilus H. McLeod, Jr. 80 of Buies Creek died Sunday, December 25, 2011 at his home. A native of Harnett County, he was the son of the late Theophilus H., Sr. and Annie Holland McLeod. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly McLeod. Mr. McLeod retired from the United States Air Force in 1974 and worked with the United States Postal Service for 13 years. He was an active member of the Buies Creek First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, a faithful usher, and various committees. He was an avid golfer, gardener, and woodworker. T.H. was devoted to his wife, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Buies Creek First Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Michael Simmons will officiate. Burial will be in the Buies Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 pm and other times at his home.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Janice Wood McLeod; Daughters: Lynn McLeod of Mills River, NC, Jan M. McKnight and husband David of Angier; Son: Ted H. McLeod and wife Laura of Buies Creek; Sisters: Lucille Dean of Crumpler, Ruby Biggs of Buies Creek, Anne Windell of South Carolina, and Hester Smith of Florida; 3 Grandchildren: Jesse McDaniels, Miles and Kristen McKnight; 2 Great grandchildren: Shailyn and Kealey McDaniels.
