Mrs. Syvada Grissom Holder, 90, of Lillington, died Monday, August 19, 2013 at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. She was born in Vance County, the daughter of Walter Graham and Nancy Parrish Grissom. Syvada was a life long member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church. She worked at Ft. Bragg during wartime. She retired from Cornell Dublier in 1985. Her later years were spent babysitting her grandchildren, caring for her husband and caring for her great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alton Ray Holder, a beloved granddaughter, Rachel Brooks Currin, her parents and 8 brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Spring Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Benton W. Oakes III officiating. Burial will follow in the Holder Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Spring Hill United Methodist Church Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 PM and other times at the home of James and Elaine Currin, 745 Leaflet Ch. Rd., Lillington.

She is survived by daughter, Elaine H. Currin and husband James of Lillington, sons, Graham F. Holder and wife Sylvia of Broadway, Eddie Ray Holder and wife Helen of Lillington; grandchildren, Candace Stephens (Bo), Bridget Cox (Richie), Beth C. McGarity (Hannable), Matthew J. Currin (Shannon), Leslie H. Buchanan (Kelly), Jeremy A. Holder (Crystal), Janna A. Holder, Marie Long and Jim Long; great- grandchildren, Mitchell McGarity, Phillip McGarity, Collin McGarity, Hayden Currin, Owen Currin, Kamie Buchanan, Morgon Buchanan, Raylan Holder, Olivia Cox, Griffin Cox, Brayden Stephens, Cade Stephens, Marianne Long and Jaxon Long.

Family has requested that memorial donations be made to Spring Hill United Methodist Church, 1960 Spring Hill Ch. Rd., Lillington, NC 27546.
