On November 17, 2009 Susan Tingen Johnson went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness. She leaves behind to cherish her memory two loving daughters; Joan J. Taylor of Lillington and Sharon A. Johnson of Greensboro and a son-in-law Russell Taylor. Additionally, two grandchildren; Emily T. Rosser and Frank of Broadway, grandson William Russell Taylor, Jr. and wife Lauren of Lillington. Four great grandchildren Taylor and Jackson Rosser, Aiden and Avery Taylor and a brother Ray H. Tingen of Fayetteville, nephews, nieces and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Edward Johnson, father and mother Frank and Sudie Tingen, a brother Joseph Tingen and sister Helen F. Tingen.
Sue Tingen Johnson was a recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine and service award from the Harnett County Sheriff's Department. She also received the United States Flag that flew over our Nations capitol at her retirement after 38 years as proprietor of Tingen's grocery.
Visitation will be held at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home in Lillington from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, November 19th. The funeral will be Friday at 3:00 pm at Union United Methodist Church on Nursery Road, in Lillington. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Union United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall Building Fund, 2212 Nursery Rd., Lillington, NC 27546 or Hospice of Harnett County, 111-A N. Ellis Ave., Dunn, NC 28334.
The family will be using Jeffrey's Florist, 910-891-7000.
