Steven W. Equils of Spring Lake died Monday, April 5, 2010 at his home. A native of Belhaven, NC, he was the son of the late Andrew and Ann Montague Equils. He was a State Capitol Police Officer in Raleigh and a retired US Army First Sgt.

Steven is survived by his wife, Susan Matthews Equils; a daughter, Laura E. Elkin and husband Shawn of Kansas; a son, Steven M. Equils and wife Sarah of Germany; brothers, Raymond Equils of New Jersey, David Equils of Arizona, and Bruce Equils of Wendell; sisters, Virginia Workman of Knightdale and Faye Leggs of Lillington; and his mother in Law, Dorothy Matthews of Bunnlevel.

A funeral service will be held Monday, April 12, 2010 at 10:30 am at O'Quinn-Peebles Chapel. Rev. Ed Rogers will preside. His burial will be at Sandhills State VA Cemetery in Spring Lake following the service. Visitation will be held at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home Sunday evening from 5:00-7:00 pm.
