Sion Anthony Mitchell, 57, of Buies Creek, passed away peacefully at Duke Raleigh Hospital on June 30, 2015.

Anthony was born on October 25, 1957 at Good Hope Hospital in Erwin, North Carolina.

He attended Campbell University and Appalachian State University and lived all over North Carolina before returning to Buies Creek in December of 2006.

Preceded in death by his father, Sion MacDonald Mitchell, Anthony is survived by his mother, Jane Burnish and his step-father, Harry Burnish, of Buies Creek. Also surviving are his brother, Terry Mack Mitchell of Buies Creek and his sister, Glenda Ennis and her husband, Lieutenant Colonel (USA - Retired) Baxter Ennis, of Chesapeake, VA. He was a loving uncle to Jessica Ennis of Washington, DC, Joshua Ennis and wife Brooke of Lovettsville, VA and Leslie Ennis Davidson and husband Brian, of Louisville, KY. Anthony was also a proud great uncle to Wyatt, Leland, Beau and Noelle.

Anthony loved people well and was well loved in return. His infectious laugh would light up the room. His gift for design, originality, and resourcefulness brought joy to all who were recipients of his beautiful creations. He was a talented draftsman and designer, and also loved his time in the garden.
