Mrs. Shelby Jean Britt Johnson, age 74, of Buies Creek died Monday, February 28, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with lung and brain cancer. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Broughton Carr and Elizabeth Inez Stewart Britt. Mrs. Johnson graduated in 1955 from Buies Creek High School and moved to Raleigh for nine years. In 1965, she married Johnny Add Johnson of Lillington and had three daughters. She was secretary at the family business for seventeen years. In 1983, she began her employment with Edward Brothers and retired in 2004. Mrs. Johnson will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her sister, Berdene Smith.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at O'Quinn-Peebles Chapel in Lillington with Rev. Randy Beasley officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, March 1, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM.

She is survived by three daughters, Pamela Jean Johnson of Erwin, Wendy Gayle Johnson of Buies Creek, Johnnie Michelle Johnson of Buies Creek, two grandchildren, Josie Gayle Johnson and Johnny Add Johnson, two brothers, Lynwood Britt of Raleigh and J.B. Britt of Angier, two sisters, Shirley Mabry of Angier and Bonnie Crissman of Cary.
