Samuel Eugene Ellis, 84 of Lillington, passed away, Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn, NC.

Sam was born November 11, 1938 in Wake County, NC.  He was raised at the Methodist Home for Children in Raleigh, where he had fond memories.  Sam was employed as a certified pipe welder and instructor, retiring with over 40 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; and his dog Abby.

Sam is survived by his son, Stephen H. Ellis, Sr. (Christine); grandsons, SSG Stephen H. Ellis, Jr., and SSG Jeffery Ellis (Brie); granddaughter, Kimberly Nance (Richard); great grandsons, Wyatt Nance, Wynn Nance, and Ellis Nance.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
