Mrs. Ruby Owens Stewart, 82, of Bunnlevel passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at her home. She was born in Stantonsburg, NC, the daughter of the late Seth McCoy Owens and Edrie Keel Richards Owens. Ruby was an avid gardener and loved to be outdoors. She was a long time faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church in Bunnlevel where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Ruby loved spending time with her family and caring for other people in the Bunnlevel community. She was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Stewart; son, Allen Stewart; brother, Mac Owens; 2 sisters, Mary Frances Vick and Maud Mooring.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Lori Stewart of the home; 2 grandsons, Jesse Stewart of Coats and Alex Belanovich of Lillington; several nieces and nephews; "adopted" son, Jack Jones of Bunnlevel; aunt, Jewel Gay of Richmond, VA.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Friendship Baptist Church in Bunnlevel with Rev. Phil Addison and Rev. Steve Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM and other times at the home.
