Obituary

Robert Franklin Stancil died peacefully on October 16, 2015 at his home in Lillington, NC at the age of 74. Robert will be remembered as a wonderful husband, extraordinary father & grandfather, faithful brother, and fun uncle. His family and friends will continue to celebrate his life filled with contagious smiles, bear hugs, and selfless service.

Robert was born on May 16, 1941 in Johnston County, NC to Callie and Pearl Stancil. Robert was a long time employee of Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) and retired from Progress Energy (formerly CP&L) after a thirty-eight year career. He served his country in the United States Army. He was an avid fly-fisherman and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a dedicated member of Memorial Baptist Church in Buies Creek, NC.

Robert is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Shelby Johnson Stancil; daughters, Amanda Stancil Moore and Melissa Stancil; son-in-law, Seth Moore; grandchildren, Tanner and Cullen Moore; sister, Frances Fish; and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Callie and Pearl Stancil; siblings, Thomas Stancil, Ray Stancil, Carl Stancil, Mary Rose Painter, Doris Chappell, and Russell Stancil.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Robert and Shelby's home. A funeral is scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Baptist Church in Buies Creek, NC with graveside service to follow at Westview Cemetery Lillington, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Music Ministry or Children's Ministry of Memorial Baptist Church, Post Office Box 485, Buies Creek, NC 27506. The family would like to thank Community Home Care and Hospice of Lillington, NC and Senior Helpers of Dunn, NC for their outstanding dedication and care.
