Mr. Robert S. Johnson, 79, of Broadway died Friday, October 10, 2014 at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. He was born April 18, 1935 in Harnett County, the son of the late Eldo Harper and Berta Dean Johnson. Robert was a graduate of Benhaven High School. He was a former Assistant Manager of Harnett County Maintenance Department, Contractor and Brick mason. Robert was a member of the Boone Trail Ruritan Club, Woodmen of the World and Spring Hill United Methodist Church where he formerly served on the Board of Trustees and the Building Committee. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Hazel J. Brown, Estelle J. Burgess, Eldo Johnson, Jr., Franklin Johnson, Maude Johnson, Roger Johnson, Narvie J. Hall and Ethel J. Williams.
Funeral service will be 4:00 PM Monday, October 13, 2014 at Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Lillington with Pastor Terry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Sunday from 4:00-6:00 PM and other times at the home.
Robert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Stewart Johnson of the home, daughters, Jane J. McNeill and husband Randall of Lillington, Rhonda J. Wood and husband Robbie of Apex, grandchildren, Randy McNeill, Grace McNeill, Rebecca Wood and Joylynn Wood, brother, Ronald Johnson and wife Dot of Lillington, many nieces and nephews.
