Obituary

Dr. Robert "Bob" Roberson, 81 of Buies Creek died Thursday, August 7, 2014 at his home. A native of Harnett County, he was the son of the late Wilson and Betty Dean Roberson. Bob attended college at Campbell Junior College and earned his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University. After his graduation, he continued his studies at the University of Chapel Hill and received his doctorate degree in Dentistry. He served as a dental medic while serving in the United States Army.

Following his military service, he practiced dentistry in Fayetteville for 38 years. After retirement, he moved back to Buies Creek along the banks of the Cape Fear River he cherished.

His hobbies included canoeing, kayaking, camping, writing, painting, and wood working. After his retirement, he went on dental mission trips in South America, providing dental care in clinics. He also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Bread Basket Ministries.

Bob and Frances were active members of Buies Creek First Baptist Church. He served as a deacon and was instrumental in many committees and activities within the church.

Funeral service will be conducted 3:00 pm Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Buies Creek First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Michael Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the Buies Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 pm Saturday in the church fellowship hall.

Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances Matthews Roberson. Daughter, Beth Trainer and husband Mike of Apex. Son, Matthew Roberson and wife Cindy of Raleigh. 3 grandchildren, Kathryn Roberson, Walker Roberson and Savannah Trainer
