Mr. Robert "Bob" Gray Knight, 93, of Lillington passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the SECU Hospice Home in Smithfield. He was born in Guilford County, the son of the late Robert Gorrell and Gray Vernon Knight. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Johnson Knight, son Kenneth Johnson Knight and daughter-in-law, Cheryl H. Knight. He was a WWII and Korea veteran of the US Navy. Robert was member of VFW Post 6722 and the American Legion in Lillington.

Robert is survived by 3 sons, David Knight and partner Kathy of Apex, Vernon Knight and wife Kay of Angier and Kevin Knight of Lillington; grandchildren, Stephanie K. Pattillo (Shane), Melissa K. Petruzzo (Franco), Heather K. Lee (Chris), Kelsey (Nick) Knight and 4 great-grandchildren; brother, William (Putt) Knight of Madison.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Lillington Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Selman officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday at Flat Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stokesdale, NC. The family will receive friends at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM.
