Robert E.
Farmer
May 22, 1957 — Sep 26, 2019
Mr. Robert Edgar Farmer, 62, of Sanford, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019, surrounded by his family, after a long, resilient battle with cancer.
Robert was born May 22, 1957 in Wake County to John and Della Farmer. He graduated from Boone Trail in 1975. His love of the outdoors led him to become a prominent and dedicated farmer in Lillington for many years. He was a great farmer who grew bountiful crops which won him awards such as Harnett County Farm Bureau Young Farmer of the Year 1988; he served as a mentor to many fellow farmers and was happy to share his knowledge of the trade. He later worked for Triangle Grading and Paving Company and developed a special fondness for his co-workers. His latest endeavor was renovating homes. Whatever he pursued; he was successful. He was an active member of the Sanford Moose Lodge. In his younger years, he loved racing cars and never lost his passion for the sport. Above all else, the love he had for his family was immense.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at 11 am at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Broadway with Rev. Scott Yow presiding. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, John G. Farmer; and a brother, Rodney Farmer; and a nephew, Addison Malone.
He is survived by his daughters, Kendra Kenney and husband, Kris of Lillington, Katie Farmer and boyfriend, Waleed Jaber of Raleigh; a granddaughter, Emmalynn Kenney; mother, Della King Farmer of Broadway; girlfriend of many years, Terri Whitley of Sanford and her daughters, Allie and Casey Eyers; brother, Randall Farmer of Broadway; sisters, Rhonda Malone and husband, Don of Winston-Salem, Laura Farmer of Broadway; and brothers, Moses Farmer and wife, Melanie of Lillington and Laurance Farmer and wife, Traci of New Bern; lots of nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, September 30, from 6 to 8 pm at Holly Springs Baptist Church Multi-Purpose Building.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holly Springs Baptist Church Philippines Mission efforts or your local FFA chapter.
