Robert (Bobby) T. Clack, Sr., born October 01, 1937 in Banks County, Georgia, to Lee and Ebbie Clack, died Monday, August 11, 2014 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC. Bobby moved to NC at an early age, attended school, quickly made friends, and called NC home. Bobby attended Lillington Elementary School and Lillington High School before entering the military.

Bobby began his impeccable military career in 1954, joining the US Navy. After serving four years in the Navy, Bobby joined the US Army in 1958. Bobby served honorably before retiring in 1981. Bobby distinguishably served as a 82nd Airborne, Special Forces, Green Beret Soldier, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant, before returning to the civilian life. While gallantly serving his country, Bobby served in Vietnam, and was decorated as such: National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Medal with Palm (Unit), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2d Oak Leaf Cluster), Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Good Conduct Medal, and five military Good Conduct Medals.

In addition to Vietnam and other operations, Bobby served a one year deployment in Korea, serving with Special Forces, providing operational support to the 501st Military Intelligence Brigade.

Upon honorably completing his military service and retiring, Bobby entered the civilian sector, and served the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission for 22 years, serving as store Manager of the Lillington ABC.

Bobby was a selfless man, always putting his family and friends before himself, no matter the cost or inconvenience. Bobby is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Clack, three sons, Robbie Clack and wife Sandy of Lillington, Chuck Clack and wife Cindy of Lillington, David Clack and wife Amy of Brunswick, GA, 10 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Ebbie Clack, and 4 siblings.

Visitation will be held from 12PM to 2PM, August 15, 2014 at Lillington Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Lillington, NC, followed by funeral services held in the Sanctuary at 2PM.
