Mr. Richard Morgan Byrd, age 76, of Bunnlevel died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Unihealth Post Acute Care of Raleigh. He was born in Harnett County, the son of the late Hubert Daniel and Lucille Butts Byrd.

He was a graduate of Campbell University. Mr. Byrd retired as the Lee and Moore County manager of the USDA Farm Service Agency, formerly known as ASCS. He was a member of Lillington Masonic Lodge #302, Lillington Eastern Star Chapter #243 and a Shriner. Mr. Byrd was a member and deacon of Friendship Baptist Church in Bunnlevel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Lou Byrd and brother, Hubert Daniel Byrd. Mr. Byrd was a loving and devoted husband, father, papa, brother and friend.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 23 at 11:00 AM at Friendship Baptist Church, Bunnlevel. Service officials will be the Rev. Paul Fowler, Rev. Dan Deaton and Rev. Dudley Neal. Burial will follow at Westview Memorial Gardens, Lillington.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 PM and other times at his home. Jeffrey's Florist (910-891-7000) is serving the family.

Survivors include his son, Ricky and his wife Lou of Pittsboro; six grandchildren, Morgan Jackson and husband Art, Hannah Byrd, Lizabeth, Lance and wife Daina, Logan and Landis Barber; great-granddaughter, Kylie Barber; sister, Mary Lou Matthews and husband Billy Ray of Lillington.
