Mr. Quentin Eugene Byrd, 92, of Bunnlevel passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Green Leaf Care Center in Lillington. He was born in Bunnlevel, the son of the late Wallace Lee Byrd and Sarah Katherine Steagall Byrd. Mr. Byrd served in the US Army during WWII on a transport ship in the South Pacific. He was a lifelong resident of Bunnlevel and an active member and Deacon of Friendship Baptist Church. Mr. Byrd was a farmer and owned and operated Byrd Electric Company. He also worked as an electrical technician at Ft. Bragg and retired after many years of service. After retiring, Mr. Byrd enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Mr. Byrd was a member of the Bunnlevel Ruritan Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy West Byrd, son, Stephen Eugene Byrd; brothers, Edward Steagall Byrd, Worth Lee Byrd, Emmett McRae Byrd.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Friendship Baptist Church in Bunnlevel with Rev. Dan Deaton officiating. Burial will follow in Bunnlevel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM.

Mr. Byrd is survived by his son, Robert Wallace Byrd and wife Joanne of Laguna Hills, CA; son, Andrew Mark Byrd and wife, Diane of Raleigh; daughter, Angela Williams Byrd and wife, Wendy of Nampa, Idaho; 6 grandchildren, Candice Blair, Matthew Byrd, Amanda Byrd, Andrew Byrd, Andrea Hildebrandt and Sarah Jackson; 4 great-grandchildren, Ben and Alex Blair, Lincoln Byrd and soon to be, Beatrice Hildebrandt;
