Mr. Pinkston Eugene Byrd, 53, of Lillington passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at his home. He was born in Harnett County, the son of Jack Byrd and Hazel Lee Byrd. Eugene worked as a carpenter for Rock Lee Builders and Jackson Builders of Dunn for over 25 years. He loved hunting, fishing and woodworking. Eugene also enjoyed cooking and refinishing furniture. Eugene was preceded in death by his brother, James Melvin Byrd.

Graveside service will be 3:00 PM Monday, April 28, 2014 at Bunnlevel Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Bill Goodnight officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00-7:00 PM at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home & Crematory in Lillington and other times at the home of Hazel Byrd.

Eugene is survived by his mother, Hazel Lee Byrd of the home, father, Jack Byrd of Dunn, daughter, Leslie Benoit of Gulfport, Mississippi, sister, Ginger Chagnon and husband Wayne of Havre, Montana and several nieces and nephews.
