Mr. Phillip "Phil" Holt Melvin, 56, of Lillington passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at his home. He was born in Cumberland County, the son of the late Phillip Lewis Melvin and June Celia Melvin. Phil worked as a carpenter his entire life. He enjoyed the simple things in life. Phil loved his family and enjoyed being around people.

Phil is survived by his wife, Kathy Melvin of the home; mother, June Celia Melvin of Lillington; 3 sons, P.J. Melvin of Apex; Jeremy Melvin and Jacob Melvin both of Sanford; daughter, Kaitlyn Melvin of the home; step-daughter, Jacqueline Carter of Hillsborough; step-son, Thomas Carter of Garner; 3 grandchildren, Noah, Amelia and Layla; brother, David Melvin of Lillington.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 16, 2019 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel  with Rev. Mike Sowers officiating. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00-10:45 AM at the funeral home.
