(Lillington, N.C.) Peggy Cummings Holder, 75, peacefully entered into the House of the Lord at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer, August 8, 2021. Born in Lillington on August 13, 1945, she was predeceased by husband Harry in 2008, and daughter Amy in 1980; and parents, McDonald and Callie Holder Cummings, all of Lillington.

She is survived by son Donald Holder of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; daughter, Jennifer, and son-in-law Brad Byrd of Lillington, N.C.; and grandchildren, Aiden, Callie and Olivia.

She is also survived by brothers Ted Cummings and wife Robin of Carolina Lakes, N.C.; Fred Cummings and wife Martha of Lillington, N.C.; Ned Cummings, and Lewis Cummings and wife Sue both of Lillington: sisters-in-law Libby Currin of Lillington, Lenora Morrison and husband A.C. of Lillington, Vivian Stephenson of Coats, NC and Nancy McNeill of Lillington; brothers-in-law Franklin Holder and wife, Laura of Lillington, and James Holder and wife Barbara of Mamers; and a multitude of nephews/nieces and great nephews/nieces.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, Peggy always had time to provide love and nurturing to her son, daughters, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. During her long and distinguished teaching career at Boone Trail Elementary School she mentored hundreds of students, who themselves became productive citizens in Harnett County and surrounding communities. In addition to her education endeavors, her local community charity and church work enabled her to provide spiritual and humanitarian relief to needy citizens, and in so doing she forged lifelong friendships.

Viewing and visitation with family will be at Spring Hill United Methodist Church, Friday, August 13, 2021, from 1:00-3:00 PM. Immediately following, funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Michael Sadtler, with burial afterwards in the Spring Hill UMC Cemetery.
