MSGT. Paul Wayne Purtell Retired USAF, 89 of Erwin passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington. He was born in LeFlore, OK, the son of the late Clyde and Viva Purtell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers and a stepson.  After retiring from the military, he worked and retired from MBA Associates in Lillington after 16 years of service. Paul also owned and operated Paul's Industrial Solutions in Lillington for 8 years. After moving to Greensboro in 1999, Paul worked as a truck driver for his brother-in-law for 5 years. He was an active member of Sansom Community Church in Dunn.

Paul is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda Gregory Purtell of the home; daughter, Lisa Purtell of Topeka, KS; stepson, Robert Barbour of Lillington; 2 sisters, Jean Carpenter and Wanda Usury; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Sansom Community Church in Dunn Monday, October 25, 2021, from 11:00-11:45 AM. A funeral service will be held at Noon at the church with Pastor Jerome Pope officiating. A graveside service will follow at Westview Cemetery in Lillington with military honors at 3:00 PM.
