Patrick K. Coats, 43 of Richmond, Va. died Sunday, October 2, 2011. A native of Harnett County, he was preceded in death by his father, James Donald Coats; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Coats; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Patrick. Patrick graduated from Cape Fear Christian Academy in 1985 and continued his studies at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He was currently employed with Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia where he was the Comptroller for the Business Office, Student Housing Coordinator, and the Assistant Secretary to the Board of Trustees.

Funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Thursday, October 6, 2011 at O'Quinn-Peebles Chapel in Lillington with Rev. Dr. Roger Horne and Rev. Dr. Bill Goodnight officiating. Burial will be in Harnett Memorial Park, Lillington. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 pm Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of his mother, Beatrice Coats.

He is survived by his mother, Beatrice P. Coats of Lillington, sister, Rebecca C. Blair and husband Jon of Apex and nephews, Cameron and Kellen Blair.
