Mr. Norman Malcolm Stone, Sr., 84, of Lillington died Monday, January 16, 2012 at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. He was born in Harnett county, the son of the late John Anderson and Mary Buie McDonald Stone. Mr. Stone was a retired law enforcement officer, working with the Lee County Sherriff's Office and retiring from the Broadway Police Department. He was a faithful member of Lillington Baptist Church. Mr. Stone was a US Army WWII veteran serving in Germany. He was a member of VFW Post 9103 and was chief of staff for a higher order within VFW. Mr. Stone was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Lillington Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM.

He is survived by his wife Ethel Whittington Stone of the home; two sons, Norman Malcolm Stone, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Fayetteville, Clement "Andy" Anderson Stone and wife Susan of Sanford; step-children, Ronnie Womble of Lillington, Larry Womble of Raceland, LA, Joyce Camping and husband David of Myrtle Beach, SC;6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren
