Neil Allen Byrd, 72, died Monday, May 9, 2011. Mr. Byrd was born on April 3, 1939 in Bunnlevel, a son of the late Carlyle and Agnes Byrd. He graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and went on to become an insurance adjuster for over 20 years. After that, he worked with Blue Cross and Blue Shield until his retirement in 1992.

Survivors include two sons, Neil Allen Byrd, Jr. and wife Deborah of Charlston, SC; Chris B. Byrd and wife Tamara of Westminster, Co; daughter, Allison C. Byrd of Mt. Pleasant, SC and sister, Carla Davidson and husband Doug of Wilmington.
