Obituary

Mildred W. Mason,92 of Lillington died Monday, December 14th, 2009. Born in Harnett County, January 19th, 1917, she was the oldest of four children born to Lee and Mantie Matthews Wilborn. She now joins her husband of over 71 years, John Mason, in Heaven. In the late fifties, she and her husband owned and managed one of the first licensed rest homes in North Carolina. After retiring, they established a 15 acre vineyard that provided grapes to many from the surrounding areas as well as supplying grapes to the Rose Hill Winery. Mildred always enjoyed talking to friends and neighbors who stopped by to purchase grapes. She was a long-time member of the Lillington Baptist Church. Mildred was blessed with a gentle Christian spirit and a giving and loving heart. She will always be known for her unshakeable faith in Christ and unconditional love for others. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed by all. The family would like to thank the staff of Brookfield Retirement Center for the wonderful care, acts of kindness and loving support they gave her.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Lillington Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Smith and Rev. Jeff Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 PM at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home and other times at the home of Joe and Janet Boone.
She is survived by her son, J.B. Mason of Lillington, daughter, Janet M. Boone and husband Joseph Boone, of Lillington, four-grandchildren, Deloris Mason Suggs, Tammy Boone Johnson, Sandra Boone Wester and Brenda Boone Furtick, eight great-grandchildren, Brooke Johnson Granger,Johnathan Suggs, Brittney Johnson Braswell, Brandi Johnson, Joseph Furtick, Gabrielle Wester,Christopher Furtick and Caleb Wester, great great-granddaughter, Payton Braswell.
