Michael Dennis LaMirand, 58 of Fuquay-Varina died Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at his home with his wife by his side.

Michael was born August 29, 1958 in Livingston Co. Michigan. Michael was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshuah Sobataka.

Michael was in the US Army Special Forces. He was a devout Christian who believed Heaven was his home. He was a great story teller to his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed taking his dog Smokey on walks and reading. He loved to travel and explore new places. He was a strong, compassionate and patient person you could always turn to for life's most difficult decisions.

Michael is survived by his wife of 37 years, Robin LaMirand of Fuquay-Varina; a daughter, Jessica Sobataka and husband Scott of Hinesville, GA; 2 sons, Christian LaMirand and wife Kim of Dunn and Michael W. LaMirand and wife Robin O. of Angier; parents, Ron and Betty LaMirand of Pinckney, MI; 4 siblings, Rick LaMirand and wife Karen, Debbie Merna and husband Mark, Brian LaMirand and wife Debra and Sandy Becker and husband Joe all of Michigan; 8 grandchildren, Elijah McDonald, Sarah Sobataka, J.J. Loy, Madison LaMirand, Rylee Loy, Daniellah Sobataka, Emma LaMirand and Rebekkah Sobataka.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00 Noon Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Peoples Baptist Church, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M.-12Noon Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
