Mr. Melvin Butts, 91 of Bunnlevel, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn. A native of Harnett County, he was the son of the late Carlie and Annie McLeod Butts. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Smith Butts and a brother, Charles Butts. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the Lillington Masonic Lodge #302, and a member of Flat Branch Presbyterian Church. He was a retired farmer and also formerly employed with the US Dept. of Agriculture as a federal crop claims adjustor.

Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 at Flat Branch Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Perry and Rev. Bertrand Pitchford officiating. Burial will be in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home, other times at his home. Memorials may be made to Flat Branch Presbyterian Church, 180 Darroch Road, Bunnlevel, NC 28323. Mr. Butts is survived by his son, Smith Butts and his wife Hilda of Bunnlevel. Granddaughters, Melanie B. Taylor and husband John of Bunnlevel, Carla Butts of Bunnlevel.
