Funeral service will be conducted 5:00 pm Friday at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Martin Groover officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 5:00 pm prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

Survivors include his son, Neill Avent of Sanford; 3 grandchildren, Dawn Sturdivant, Karl Avent, and Valorie Libby; 2 great grandchildren. Mrs. Avent was preceded in death by her husband, John S.
