Mrs. Mavis Knight, 83 of Lillington died Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Universal Health Care in Lillington. She was born in Johnston County, the daughter of the late Oscar Melvin and Bertha Mae Allen Stanley. Mrs. Knight was a life-long member of Mt. Ariel United Methodist Church in Lillington. She enjoyed cooking and providing care for her family and neighbors. Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by her husband, John Knight; daughter, Linda Narron; brothers, Melvin Stanley, Jasper Stanley and a sister, Marie Lucas.

Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Thursday August 23, 2012 at Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington with Rev. Larry M. Walker officiating.

She is survived by his daughter, Nadine Avery and husband Donald of Lillington; son, John "J.R." R. Knight, Jr. and wife Jackie of Lillington; son, J.C. Knight and wife Diane of Mamers; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
