Mattie Mae Slaughter, 98, of Buies Creek, formerly of Conyers, GA died Friday, April 5, 2013 at SECU Hospice Center in Smithfield, NC.

She was born in Lithonia, GA on September 1, 1914 to the late John and Ella Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Slaughter; infant daughter; infant son; son-in-law Jimmy Blankenship; sister, Montene Miers and brother, Ralph Smith.

Mattie spent her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking cakes, sewing, flowers and Southern Gospel music. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

A graveside service will be held at Sodom Cemetery in Conyers, GA at a later date.

She is survived by two daughters, Vaniece S. Johnson and husband J.D. of Buies Creek; Gloria S. Blankenship of Conyers, GA; four grandchildren, Lisa Potts and husband Charles, Tami Hull and husband Eddie, Todd Johnson and wife Cindie and Tara Trotter and husband Dean; five great-grandchildren, Megan Potts, Kevin Hull and wife Kristin, Luke Johnson, Ashlee Trotter, Taylor Trotter and Stacey Trotter.
