Mary Frances Wilson Watterson, age 95, of Broadway, NC passed away peacefully Friday, March 22, 2013 at her home. She was born in Lee County, NC, the daughter of the late Burrel Brown and Flora Jane Wilson. Mrs. Watterson was the cherished wife of 69 years to Rev. Joseph V. Watterson. She was a revered mother, a loving grandmother, a nourishing friend, and a beloved counselor who expressed tireless leadership and devotion to her family, church, and community.

The visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, at Holly Springs Baptist Church Multipurpose Building.

The funeral will take place 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at Holly Springs Baptist Church, Broadway with the burial to follow at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Joseph Vardell and Mary Wilson Watterson Endowed Scholarship Trust at Campbell University, in care of Holly Springs Baptist Church, 385 Holly Springs Church Road, Broadway, NC 27505.

Survivors include her sister Nellie Knight of Broadway, NC; daughter Gloria Watterson Foster and husband Murray and daughter Susan Beryl Watterson, both of Fairfield, Iowa; son Joseph Vardell Watterson, Jr. and wife Dolan of Greensboro, NC and their children Matthew Joseph Watterson and Mary Catherine Watterson.
