Mrs. Mary "Mary Lou" McPhail, 96, of Lillington, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 26, 2019.

Mary was retired from Harnett County Schools after 16 years of service.  She was a longtime member of Spring Hill Church.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at 4 pm in Spring Hill United Methodist Church.  The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaston McPhail; her son, David McPhail; grandson, Ricky Barefoot; great-grandson, Joshua Whittington; her brothers, John B. Haire, William Haire and Ira Haire; and her sister, Naomi Raynor.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Doris Barefoot and husband Carl; granddaughter, Tracy Barefoot and fiancée, Jeremy Smith; granddaughter-in-law, Melissa Barefoot; three great-grandchildren, Clayborn Barefoot, Nolan Barefoot and Carleigh Flynn; two sisters, Ester Price and Eunice Hewitt; and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 3 to 3:45 pm in the church sanctuary and other times at the home of Tracy Barefoot, 373 Quail Road in Lillington.
