Mary Ann O'Quinn
Roberson
Jul 20, 1937 — Nov 21, 2022
Mrs. Mary Ann O'Quinn Roberson, 85 of Lillington passed away Monday, November 21, 2022 at Emerald Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lillington. She was born in Richmond County, the daughter of the late Burnice and Viola McLean O'Quinn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Marion Byrd and William Roberson; infant daughter, Sophia Lee Byrd; son, Tracy E. Byrd, Sr.; daughter, Teresa Sue Campbell; brothers, Mack and Lester O'Quinn; grandson, Logan Campbell and son-in-law, Douglas R. Jones.
Mary Ann loved being outdoors and enjoyed many kinds of flowers and plants. She also took pleasure in preparing meals for her family and cooking for whomever would stop by. Some of her favorites to make were cheese toast, collards and of course homemade biscuits and cornbread. When she was younger you would find her on her back porch, surrounded by freshly picked vegetables, her sisters, her daughters, and son and many grandchildren playing in the yard as they shelled peas and shucked corn. Or possibly with her sister working in tobacco. She loved good music and the several Cadillacs that she drove through the years. Family was important to her, and she loved fiercely. She leaves an amazing legacy in her family, and she will truly missed.
Mary Ann is survived by her two daughters, Sandra B. Jones of Lillington, Gloria Herring and husband Kevin of Yokota, Japan; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Monnie Jenks of Apex, Elizabeth Garrett of Broadway; brother, Tony O'Quinn and wife Judith of Lillington; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 23, 2022 from 1:00-2:45 PM at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM in Westview Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of Emerald Health and Rehabilitation Center and Community Hospice for their loving care.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Ariel United Methodist Church, 3950 NC-27, Lillington, NC 27546 or Community Homecare and Hospice, 1231 N. Main St., Lillington, NC 27546.
