Marvin Edward Johnson, 86, of Fuquay-Varina went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. He was born in Harnett county, the son of the late Herman and Zula Betts Johnson. Mr. Johnson retired from Colonial Food Stores as a truck driver. He loved hunting and fishing but his greater loves were h is wife, family and singing the praises of his Lord to others. Mr. Johnson was a life-long active member of Baptist Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler while sharing Christ in the community. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his son, Cecil Johnson and a brother, Roger Lee Johnson.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 7, 2012 at Baptist Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Pearce and Rev. Richard Streib officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall after the service and other times at the home.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joyce Holland Johnson of the home; daughter, Rebecca J. Matthews and husband Halford of Fuquay-Varina; daughter-in-law, Annette M. Johnson of Fuquay-Varina; 3 grandchildren, Shannon M. Smith, Jason Matthews and wife Adrienne, Scotty Johnson; 5 great-grandchildren, Jason Matthews, Jr., Andrew Smith, Matthew Smith, Kylee Smith and Brighton Matthews; sister, Mary Hilliard of Garner and brother, Ernest Johnson of Fuquay-Varina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist Grove Baptist Church Mission Program, 6140 Christian Light Rd., Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
