Martha Bryan Holmes, 97, of Weslaco, TX, formerly of Buies Creek, passed away in the early morning of Feb. 19, 2011 at her daughter's residence in Weslaco. She was born Feb. 13, 1914 in Elizabethtown, NC to Neil and Martha Maultsby Bryan. In 1957, she became Registrar for the Foreign Service Institute and she was also on the Board of Lady Managers at Alexandria Virginia Hospital. In 1978, she retired after 32 years of government which included the US Department of State and the US Postal Service.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Dodson Clayton Reardon and Kelley W. Holmes and her great grandson, Dustin Tallichet.

Memorial service will be held Saturday June 25, 2011, 2:00 PM at Buies Creek First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Michael Simmons officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a Hospice organization of one's choice.

Survivors include her daughter, Marti R. Manning and son-in-law Dr. Robert C. Manning of Weslaco, TX; her brother, James Walter Bryan of Raleigh; 6 Grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
