Apr 11, 1931 — Apr 26, 2020
Marshal Ardue Boyd of Raleigh, NC, has gone away with a friend. He passed in peace on April 26, 2020, at the age of 89.
Marshal was born on April 11, 1931, in Vansant, VA, to Ardue and Jane Boyd. He served in the Army during the Korean War before meeting the love of his life, Maledia Myers. Marshal and Maledia spent the majority of their marriage in Columbus, OH, where they were active members of Grace Brethren Church. They relocated to North Carolina in 2013.
Marshal was a hard-working, humorous, generous family man who never met a stranger. Marshal will be remembered for his commitment to making sure everyone had the opportunity to know and love Jesus.
Marshal and his wife were members of Apex Baptist Church in Apex, NC.
Marshal is survived by his wife of 65 years, Maledia, and three children: Randy (Rebecca), Cathy (Rick) Embrey, and Tim (Roberta). He will be deeply missed by siblings Thelma Lester, Ferrel, James, Annalou Colley, William, Charles, David, Steve, and Robert. He will be lovingly remembered by seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Marshal also leaves behind 216 roosters, 427 clocks and more rocks than his grandchildren can carry.
Marshal was preceded in death by his siblings Ella Mae Boyd, Carlie Clevinger and Estel Boyd; by his son-in-law, William Merrick; and by his grandson, Ryan Merrick.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
