Marie Adeline Davie Young, 84 of Fuquay-Varina died Monday, January 2, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
Marie was born February 12, 1932 in Baden PA to the late James Harold and Genevive Valentine Davie. Marie was preceded in death by her husband John Francis Young, Jr.; and 5 siblings, Lillian Kalgreen, Priscilla Huffman, Robert Davie, William Davie, James Harold Davie, Jr.
Marie was a member of First United Methodist Church of Havelock. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She draftswoman who drafted the blueprints of missiles for the US Government. She assisted with the composition and passing of Wilderness Preservation Bill for Nevada. At times she sold insurance and was a mortgage broker. She enjoyed sewing and sewed each of her daughters wedding dresses and obtained 1st prize for two of those dresses. She loved to travel– she went through Europe, Bermuda and many other countries. She enjoyed to write poetry, draw, color, garden and can.
Marie is survived by 4 daughters, Nancy Maples-Remley and husband Timothy of Apex, Karen Marie Cathcart and husband Brian of Ocala, FL, Jennie Sue Arthur of Havelock and Joyce Frances Young of Lillington; a son, John Francis Young III of Finksburg, MD; 2 sisters, Betty Dixon and husband Floyd of Altoona, PA and Margaret Ann Ostrander of Baden, PA; 9 grandchildren, Christina Atack, Amanda Maples, Robert Cathcart, Meghan Holcomb, Margarete Ford, Jonathon Gillikin, Kristi Gillikin, Weston Young, Jediaha Young; and 8 great grandchildren, Ayla, Kemrey and Isabel Holcomb, Ryan and Elijah Atack, Teagan and Jakob Gillikin, and Bryce Anthony Scott.
Funeral services will be held 7:00 P.M. Friday, January 6, 2017 at Kipling United Methodist Church with Rev. Melinda Ivey officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 P.M. Friday at the church.
