Marie Patterson Hinesley, 87 of Spring Lake, passed away October 2, 2026, surrounded by her family at Transitions Lifecare Hospice House. She was born November 7, 1938, to the late James and Virginia Patterson. Addition to her parents Marie was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Hinesley; brothers John B. Patterson and James Larry Patterson; sisters, Emma P. Byrd, Sadie P. Byrd, Ann P. Collins, Carolyn P. Haire.
She graduated from Boone Trail High School in 1956. Marie worked in textile for a few years before becoming a home maker and helping raise her grandchildren. She loved trips to the mountains to Cherokee and Pigeon Forge with family and friends. She enjoyed going to church and the simple things in life. The family greatly appreciates the care and love from Dr. Camila Diaz, Transitions Lifecare staff, North Carolina Nephrology, and Harnett Woods Nursing Facility.
Marie is survived by daughter Lisa Upchurch of the home; granddaughters Kasie Franjul (Alexander) of Godwin, Kayla Upchurch of Fayetteville, Lesley Collins (Cierra) of Kenley; great granddaughters Elizabeth Autry, Grace Autry, Jasmine Franjul, Caylie Koskinen; many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Transitions Lifecare 200 Hospice Circle Raleigh, N.C. 27607.
The family will receive friends Wednesday October 7th, 2026, 1:00 P.M. to 1:45 P.M at Layton Chapel Baptist Church, 1230 Anderson Creek School Road Spring Lake and other times at her home. A funeral service will follow in the church at 2 P.M. Services will conclude with a graveside in the church cemetery.
