Mrs. Maria Bayerstorfer George, 81, of Lillington passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 at her home. She was born in Berglern (Bavarian), Germany, the daughter of the late Josef and Anna Bayerstorfer. Maria was a dedicated military wife and a loving mother. She also was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Maria enjoyed being and working outdoors with her flowers and in her garden. She loved her dogs, chickens and hummingbirds. Maria enjoyed socializing with everyone she encountered. She was very proud of becoming a United States citizen in 1961. Maria was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Elizabeth, Imgard and Katarina; grandson, Jeffrey George.

Maria is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lloyd Edward George of the home; son, Lloyd J. George of Lillington; daughters, Kathy Burgess-Brown and husband Danny of Holly Springs, Christine Williams and husband Gary of Lillington, Peggy Bryant and husband Chester of Fuquay-Varina, Patricia George Anderson and husband James of Fuquay-Varina; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sister, Anne Muhlbaeur of Germany and brother, Josef Bayerstorfer of Germany.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, December 2, 2016 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel in Lillington with Pastor Ben Pearce officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 3:00-4:00 PM and other times at the home.
