Mr. Malcolm Russell Stout, 91, of Lillington passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016. He was born in Lee County, the son of the late James Ray Stout and Mary Alice Ellis Stout. Malcolm was a graduate of Sanford High School and served in the US Army during WWII. He went ashore at Normandy and served with the 1st Army 19th Corps on their march across Europe into Germany, earning 4 campaign stars. After the war, he graduated from Mars Hill College and attended UNC– Chapel Hill. Malcolm was a police officer in Southern Pines for several years rising to the rank of Police Sergeant. He later joined the NC State Division of Probation and Parole and retired after 30 years of service. Malcolm was proud to receive the Order of the Longleaf Pine from Gov. James Martin. He was an Elder Emeritus and Sunday school teacher at Lillington Presbyterian Church. Malcolm was also a Mason and served on the Harnett County Planning Board. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Alice Jean McCaskill Stout; 3 brothers, James, Fred and Paul Stout and a sister, Helen Stout Enzie. Malcolm loved his family, his church and his country.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday, February, 8, 2016 at Lillington Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dawn Stoker, Rev. Dr. Bill Goodnight and Mr. Tom Brown officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Monday from 10:00-11:00 AM. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM in Eureka Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Carthage.

Malcolm is survived by his daughter, Alice Stout Radford and husband, Bill of Pine Level; son, Malcolm Stout, Jr. and wife, Rose of Fuquay-Varina; 3 grandchildren, Bill Radford, Jr. and wife, Becky, Hannah Stout and Emma Stout; 3 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Emma and Carly.
