Lucy Helen Butler Baker, 83, of Lillington, passed away peaceully on Friday, January 19, 2024 at her home in Lillington, NC.

Lucy was born October 5, 1940 in Cumberland County, NC to the late Kesler and Gertrude Pearson Butler.  She was a graduate of Meredith College and retired as a teacher of the Wake County Public School System. Lucy was a very active, long time member of Buies Creek First Baptist Church. She loved her family, church & lived to serve & follow her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. She was always there for her children and loved spending time with & spoiling her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Thomas Harvey Baker; brother, William (Billy) Butler; sister, Carole Butler Marshall.

Lucy is survived by her daughter, Lynn Knisley (James); son, Thomas Scott Baker (Kim); grandchildren, Jessica (Tyler), Grace, Samantha, Lilah, and Thomas.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Buies Creek Baptist Church, 118 Main St., Buies Creek, NC 27506 with Dr. Michael Simmons officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00am – 11:00 am prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Cape Fear Baptist Church Cemetery in Grays Creek, 6041 Butler Nursery Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28306.
