Mrs. Louise Simmons Murray, 86, of Lillington died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford after a brief illness.

She was born December 10, 1926 in Harnett County to the late Beulah and William Simmons. Louise was preceded in death by her husband Frank Murray and her three brothers, Lamar, Ernest and W.T. Simmons.

Mrs. Murray was a loving woman that was dedicated to her family. She is survived by her daughters Sandra Currin and husband Sherman of Raleigh and Brenda Langdon and husband Rupert of Lillington; her sister Bertha Bradley of Lillington; 3 grandsons Brent Currin and wife Kelly, Clay Langdon and wife Rachael, Chad Langdon and wife Michelle and 11 great-grandchildren.

Louise was a woman that loved not only her family, but her community as well. She was a lifetime member of Lillington Baptist Church and spent numerous years as a Sunday School teacher and served on various committees. Mrs. Murray was not only active in her church, but she embodied the call to go out and serve others within the community. Louise spent countless hours delivering meals with the Meals-on-Wheels program, working at the Harnett County Library and providing comfort to those in their final days as a hospice volunteer.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 PM at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home in Lillington. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, October 18, 2013 at Lillington Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Roberts and Rev. Dr. Bill Goodnight officiating. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park.
