Leon "Shorty" Allen, 79 of Broadway died Monday, April 12, 2010 at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. A native of Harnett County, he was the son of the late James and Viola Wilson Allen. He was preceded in death by a step daughter, Tracy Mason.

Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday at Cool Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Ramon Atkins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 pm at Cool Springs Church.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife,Joyce Mason Allen. Step Daughters, Barbara Mason of Lillington, Libby Dew and husband Charles of Sanford. 3 Sisters, Joyce Patterson of Broadway, Shirley Stone and Betty Hicks, both of Sanford. 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren
