Obituary

Mrs. Lena C. Stephens, of Lillington died peacefully at her home on Monday, November 15, 2010. A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Gus and Hettie Byrd Coleman. Lena was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elbert S. Stephens; her brother, Robert Coleman; sisters, Winifred Gates, Lettie Tew, and Alice Newton. She was a member of the Lillington Baptist Church. Lena loved life. She never met a stranger and enjoyed knowing people from all walks of life. She was active in Prime Timers, The Red Hat Society, and the High Stepper's Dance Club, to name a few. She viewed every day as a gift from God and she lived life to the fullest. Because she lived this way, she encouraged others to see the world through God's eyes and His love. Lena was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. "Nana" was her grandchildren's biggest fan and she loved them unconditionally and completely. Lena was always grateful for her many friends and family and was blessed beyond measure. She used her God given gift of humor to enrich the lives of all those she touched.
