BUIES CREEK- Mr. Larry Hinton Stewart, 77, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 29, 2018.

Larry was born April 20, 1941, in Buies Creek to the late Wade Hampton and Annie Jane Matthews Stewart. He graduated from Buies Creek High School and attended Campbell University. After two years of service in the Army, he returned to North Carolina and began his career at NC Division of Motor Vehicles where he thoroughly enjoyed entertaining the public.

Larry was a lifelong member of Buies Creek First Baptist Church. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He loved spending time outdoors and he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. Everyone will always remember him for his sense of humor and ability to make people laugh.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Rudolph Stewart.

Larry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gayle Byrd Stewart; son, Dr. Christopher Wade Stewart of Buies Creek; daughter, Natalie Stewart Munz and husband Christopher D. Munz of Coats; 2 grandchildren, Alex Munz and Nate Munz; nieces, Heather Stewart-Johnston, Meredith Ashley, Katherine Hemminger, and Casey Zarian; and nephew, Jason Brown.
