Larry C.
Knott
Feb 28, 1944 — Jun 12, 2019
Mr. Larry Connell Knott, 75, Army veteran of Vietnam War, passed away June 12, 2019.
Larry served in the Harnett County Sheriff Department for 24 years as Deputy Sheriff and then was elected Sheriff. It was with great honor that he received The Order of the Long Leaf Pine Society while serving his county; and serving as a Mason and a Shriner. One of Larry's many loves was becoming a Stew Master and competing in stew championships. He devoted hours cooking and serving barbeque to many communities and organizations. Golfing was a favorite pastime as well as riding with the Motorcycle Club. If someone needed a recommendation for a good restaurant, Larry was the go-to-guy as he knew all of the out of way places (yes, he had eaten at them) in the state of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Hassie Knott; sisters, Patricia K. Strickland, Carolyn K. Arnold and sister-in-law, Dottie C. Knott.
Larry is survived by his brother, Douglas E. Knott; sister, Brenda Knott Manor and husband Bob of Richmond, VA; brother-in-law, Delano Strickland of Sanford; as well as several nieces and nephews.
